HI, I’M ELEONORE MENGA
Portrait and Documentary Photographer based in Montreal
Born and raised in Switzerland with Congolese and Haitian heritage, Eleonore Menga brings a unique blend of cultural influences to her work. Her photography reflects the layered beauty of light, texture, and symbolism, inspired by her childhood. She captures the barely visible details of nature and life, finding profound beauty in simplicity.
Eleonore specializes in editorial portraiture and documentary photography, aiming to document authentic emotions, connections, and fleeting moments. Her portraits are characterized by warm, vibrant colors and thoughtful interplay of light, while her documentary work evokes the elegance of black-and-white imagery, focusing on storytelling and emotional resonance. Her technical expertise is rooted in her studies at Dawson College, where she earned a diploma in Commercial Photography in December 2024.
As a mother of four with a background in anthropology, Eleonore has a deep understanding of diverse cultures and social dynamics. This perspective, coupled with her natural ability to make subjects feel at ease, allows her to create images that are both intimate and universally relatable. Whether working with models, children, or families, she co-creates meaningful portraits that celebrate connection and individuality.
Looking ahead, Eleonore is preparing a photo reportage exploring themes of belonging and family ties, while continuing to create artistic portraits and documentaries that highlight stories within Afrodescendant communities. Her work is a testament to her belief in the power of photography to preserve memories and uncover the beauty of human connections.
