The Sweet Sculptor

Éléonore Menga’s The Sweet Sculptor explores self-care within the Black community while addressing intergenerational trauma, inspired by the powerful poem What if a Black Woman Knew by slam artist Dylema. Through a series of portraits, she highlights the strength and resilience of contemporary Black women who, as beacons of personal growth, preserve their softness in the face of adversity to nurture future generations. Incorporating self-portraits and collage backgrounds crafted with her youngest child, the project becomes both a personal and collective journey, celebrating empowerment, healing, and the transformative force of creativity.
